On today's show Patrick Gaspard, executive director of the DNC and former political director for President Obama, joined Luke Russert to discuss Vice President Biden's speech pushing the Buffett Rule.
He also gave his thoughts about Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen's comments about Ann Romney.
Gaspard was adamant about Rosen not being an adviser to the Obama campaign or to the DNC, first saying, "let me correct you at the top, Hilary Rosen is a smart, decent Democratic strategist, but she is not an adviser to the DNC or to the campaign."
When pressed by Luke to clarify that Rosen has no connection to the DNC at the present time Gaspard said, "Hilary Rosen is absolutely not a paid adviser to the DNC or to the Obama campaign. Absolutely not."
When asked if she was an unpaid adviser Gaspard said, "we only pay our advisers."

Why don't the Democrats say what the GOP leadership say when someone make a negative comment about Democrats leaders. "We do not have control over people's opinions and their freedom of speech or expression". Ms. Rosen told the truth. Women on the top 15% of the population are very privilege and have a CHOICE and should thank the bottom 85% that has been getting by sharing only 7% of the financial wealth. They DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE. Low wages of their husbands makes it necessary to work out of the home. The working poor is not poor by choice but by policies. The top 15% has been very successful lobbying against living wages and benefits and against the right of workers to collective bargaining. They however have organizations like ALEC which are actually unions that get paid by corporation to negotiate with congress by lobbying (a form of bribing) for policies that keep the distribution of wealth as it is now. That is what the GOP is defending with such zeal. The top 15% and their children is their top priority.
How silly your panel is! Of course the Romneys are out of touch! That includes his wife! The women I know, don't have
to ask the question, in what house and by which staff member did I raise my children with! Normal women who work, do so out of necessity, thats why they should be paid equally with men. Republicans vote against this. Non of the new Anti-female legislations will affect Mrs.Romney or her children! If they want health care they get it free as some perk of business. If they want something thats illegal in America, they fly to France and get it there! Mrs. Romney is more like a Queen than a working women. She has multiple staffs, multiple cooks, multiple chaffeurs, multiple nannys and on and on ! How silly to ask her about the average women! She has no idea, how could she?
So stop this miss direction of the facts. Women in America are being attacked by the Republican Party's legislation!
He should be asking middle class women, not his wife!
Thats the fact!
The Romneys are out of touch, both of them!
Its in the Press' interest to make this a close race! It feeds their business! Otherwise they would find out how manny Staffs Mrs Romney has, how many Nannies, how many cooks, how many Chauffeurs and in which home! They could do that, but they don't want to out of self interest!
Republicans would attack and do attack Michelle Obama all the time, in a heart beat. This is so Phony of Chuck Todd!
How do you not blush when you stroke your own interest and let the common women's interest be shoved to the bottom! Bad, irresponsible journalism!
Chuck and other in the Media, why are you talking about Rosen's coment about Ann Romey in a way like Rosie had said a lie? Rosie was trying to say that Mrs Ronmey does not have need to work because she is a wife of a multimillionaire husband, no matter how many kids she have, because she has a lot of many to pay nanies for the kids. I have 2 daughters with Phd degrees and they had to work and leave their kids in a Day Care. So, Rosie was right when she said such coment. Chuck you can not hide that you are a Republic, I live in Miami, and and I agree, you are an irresponsable jounalist.
There is nothing more maddening than listening to the broadcast media analyze itself being manipulated by politicians. Telling us that something is not really newsworthy is not news! Telling us that you are being manipulated and wouldn't be reporting it except that, well, you are being manipulated makes you as bad as the campaigns. You are all putting on the show together.
Knock it off! Act like reporters. Your'e just being lazy. Invite the cleaning women and the secretaries to talk about working and motherhood. Stick your heads out the door and ask a homeless guy, a few teenagers, an old lady, an artist, and a bus driver to talk about these issues. Respect people! Nobody takes any of you seriously anymore.
People are suffering out here. And people are smart. Let US talk.
her husband was the one who said she advises him about women so what is the truth
and these people on msnbc are about to ride it into the ground i agree with what hillary says there is no way she can relate to a middle class woman that has to get a child out to school or where ever and go to work and depend on that salary at the end of the week
and i would like to hear someone talk about what the truth is about their family life her son was on cnn last night and said they had no household help i don't believe that
There is nothing more maddening than listening to the broadcast media analyze itself being manipulated by the campaigns. The fact that it's not really news somehow makes it news: you want us to know you wouldn't be covering it, except, well, you're being manipulated. You are as bad as the politicians, all playing your parts in the same show.
Knock it off and act like reporters! Ask the cleaning women and secretaries at NBC to talk about issues of work and motherhood. Stick your heads out the door and invite a homeless guy, a nun, a few teenagers, a bus driver, a cop, a third grade teacher and an old lady to connect all these issues to their lives. Nobody's listening to the pundits anymore - it's too surreal. People are smart. Let US talk. The politicians will follow the cameras - don't follow them: it's not your job.
