I guess I'm one of the women who not only 'likes' Jim Webb, but 'admires him' as well.
Then again, I was never a follower of the conventional choice ...merely the most effective
and lethal one.
The option of the man being VP has long since disintegrated and faded from the fore-front. In a word, it has been Muted; by other choices, other Ways & Means; other Mean People who undoubtedly have their little ol' Insidious 'Ways & Means' of achieving not only THEIR desired result, but making the arena and its environment so impassable, a requiem not
for just a boxer but a bloodied and beaten matador. That the interesting and
clear headed people, you know, the ones with the fine minds, leave altogether;
sometimes out of boredom, yes, but mostly out of frustration. Ultimately the fact that the man is leaving the Senate in 2013 speaks volumes.
Where does that leave the average citizen? Well, to my way of thinking, not in a good place. It leaves us wanting, and in a time when some of us are struggling to hold onto our jobs, or
find a job, or hold onto our homes, or fine a home or just cop a squat, the way we as a people are struggling and not in a productive way makes things come into focus. Home is not just where the heart is either, its a state of mind and a sense of self; of self-respect. Our families, our self-respect, our very existence as an individual, a people...a Nation is the core of us as a people. For are not the People are the actual, living embodiment of our Nation in the truest sense of the word?
As the short list of true advocates for America gets leaner and thinner, and I might add, not in a good way. We are again in a holding pattern that cannot be sustained for very long. We can’t really land because as we speak, the landing is disintegrating and yet, we cannot stay in the air. We just don’t have enough fuel for that. We have run out of options as presented by today’s alleged ‘Keeper(s) Of The Keys,’ 'Keeper(s) of the Flame,' whatever, and I’m not talking about the President or his Presidential Opposition. I’m talking about those boyz and girlz in DC who filibust it right down to the nub-dregs. We are hurting in every sense of the word, and need help from those who have the real credentials to change this. Government talk, the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities of those who will
diligentlywork to make this a better place not out of self glory but because they truly love this Country in the purest sense.
Those who are willing to work for the multitudes, the average man and woman who go out into the world everyday in good faith to do their best to support their families, their Country and whatever God they do, or do not worship. One might ask, 'Are we in free-fall'? I'd like to say 'No', but I am afraid that it appears to be the case. Maybe we will be lucky that men and women like Mr. Webb & Ms. Olympia Snow, Lieberman, and others will someday come back and once again, pick up the torch. Well we still have the original Jay Rokafella, the original J.R.
Maybe these noble Warriors need a rest from the cesspool of Washington, DC. Truth is, once they leave the arena, they seldom return in the capacity that is needed.
Perhaps they habe discerned that Life is far too beautiful and precious to waste in filibustering, endless stall-out speeches that only waste time and, put the Tower Of Babble to shame; and its like that.
As the heroine in Titanic pleaded for the life boat to return for her along with her realization that her true love had frozen to death in an attempt to save her, we hear her plaintiff,
child-like cries of, 'Come back, Come back' trill on and are lost in the dark cold night. So I say, 'Come back, Jim Webb, Come back, we need you.' If only we had that whistle to get his
attention, or better yet, awaken ourselves to the hard cold fact of reality, we have save ourselves and go into the cold water and make an attempt to reach that life boat with people who are true,; not the self-righteous posers. It would be comforting to know that when we reached that life boat the man or woman in charge is skilled and adept at their job and as a team we will make it. The biggest little word in the English Language is 'If'. So, if we dive in good faith into that cold dark water;will we be lifted into another sinking boat with no one to captain it, will we? If that happens, then what?
I fear that in regards to Senator Webb, we can now only behave like supplicant novitiate nuns in training and beg for crumbs from the table; little morsels; perhaps look longingly forward to his writings, and if we are lucky, Mr. Webb's screenplays. Perhaps the man needs time to do a re-set and decide where his energies are best spent, but I sincerely hope he is not thoroughly disgusted with the entire scene. If ever we needed a re-write by someone who knows how, its now.
So I say unto you, Wooooe Are we ... and the gnashing
of teeth were said to reverberate in a counter-clockwise-circle-jerk initiating from DC that boxed the compass of North America. Europe and the rest of the World braced for the tsunamis that would inevitably follow. Hey, one ‘’sunamis’ is bad enough, but two (hard T)?!?! Or is that the new twist to Double-Down-Daddy? Either way, once you are drowned your drowned, and I for one was never good at holding my breath, but have always looked good in various shades and tints of blue. (sigh)
and excuse my typ-os honest mistakes
